Efeste believes in wine monitoring, not wine making. Terrior and a minimal approach make the best wine. They work primarily with the old vines, bringing forth maturity and concentration while maintaining an elegance. Native fermentation encourages lovely earth tones without eclipsing the fruit that is unique to the vineyard, letting the fruit speak for itself. Not unlike art, where beauty and excitement are found in the unique natural abborrations. They encourage character. Great wines have personalities. Efestē, pronounced F-S-T is an acronym for Daniel & Helen Ferrelli – Patrick Smith – and Kevin & Angela Taylor. Daniel, a second generation Italian had been making wine in his garage forever, passing on the tradition of his family to his son-in-law Kevin Taylor. Daniel and Patrick met through business and their friendship blossomed through sharing their passion for wine. One evening Daniel was making dinner for his family at the Taylor house and invited Patrick too. A discussion of Kevin and Daniel’s wine making hobby came up. Patrick knew of some people in the wine industry and, why not start a project together! |

Victor Hugo Vineyards and Winery is one of Paso Robles' most exciting and innovative wineries. Victor Hugo Roberts is the owner/ winemaker of the small family operated vineyard and winery. The family legend has it that he was named after a great uncle and a great grandfather (the man who Anglicized the family name from the French name Robert to Roberts), with no reference to any literary connection. Victor Hugo Vineyards and Winery utilizes grapes from the estate (Templeton Hills Vineyard) as well as selected neighboring vineyards chosen for their commitment to quality. The estate vineyard is located in the Templeton Gap with warm days, breezy afternoons, and cool nighttime temperatures. Planted on the rugged, shale hillsides of the property the vineyard receives meticulous care including vertical shoot positioning, shoot thinning, cluster thinning, and leaf pulling. Production is limited to retain outstanding quality and detail in all aspects of the process. Victor Hugo is a small family owned and operated winery specializing in small hand crafted lots of wine with intense colors and flavors. The winery is dedicated to producing elegant, rich wines exhibiting excellent longevity. |

Vihuela: Several years ago Matt and his wife would travel to the Central Coast to enjoy the rolling hills, the laid-back attitude and of course, the wines. Through the years Matt developed a greater thirst for the Central Coast and it's wines than any weekend trip could quench. Following his heart, he enrolled into Fresno State's Enology program and next thing he knew he had graduated and was working for the likes of Geyser Peak and Rudd in Napa Valley. After several years of saving and searching for just the right location,a vineyard property was located in Templeton, California. Enter Mike, aka Mike Vihuela. A vihuela can be roughly translated as a Spanish Renaissance Guitar. In addition to big red wines, Mike has always had a fascination with Spanish music. Rumor has it that that Mike was raised on a small olive farm off the coast of Spain and at a very early age became enamored with flamenco guitar, practicing for hours on end. |
